Photo 1

Hello everyone on the Blog. This week I visited Southern Cross Catholic Vocational College in Sydney.
This College has about 400 students who are studying a range of vocational courses. These students are between 16 and 18 years of age. The url for the school web site is:
http://www.sccvc.nsw.edu.au/Pages/Home.aspx
It would be wonderful if you visited the school web site and looked at the courses that the students do.
I am going to post a series of photographs and comments that will give you a tour of the school and its teachers and students. I hope that you will find this interesting.
The school has been redesigned and it is located on the grounds of a very old school. Some of the older parts of the school have been preserved as you will see in the photographs.
Photo 1 is a picture of one of the staff areas. Each teacher has a lap top and so does every student. The teachers are very committed and very creative in their work. I have been doing some action research projects with some groups of teachers. They have identified some questions about their teaching they they wanted to investigate and research. A number of groups have finished their first projects and are now moving to more investigations. this is very good for the students.
The staff room is open plan and very light and bright.

  3. I am working with a number of the teachers in the school on action research projects. They are fantastic to work with and very committed to their students and their development. I am a very lucky person I think.

  4. And we are very lucky to have Roz working with us! My name is Cathy Ryan and at SCCVC I work as the Manager, Personlised Learning. In essence, I help staff incorporate technology into their teaching and learning program. We are keen to use cameras, videos, Web 2.0 technologies and our Learning Management System, to provide engaging resources for these Gen Y students.
